To introduce you to LiveCycle ES, the Adobe Evangelist Team worked with Avoka Technologies to create Tour de LiveCycle, a desktop application designed to help you get a feel for LiveCycle ES, and for the problems it will help you solve. Rather than showing you a 10-hour presentation of 700+ pages of content and demos, we have organized the content into a hierarchical tree, which you can use to explore paths that are most relevant to you. Whether you plan to spend 10 minutes getting a feel for what LiveCycle ES is all about or you need to build a full application with LiveCycle ES, Tour de LiveCycle can help.

Suggested Path for Developers

If you are a developer, you'll want to understand the SOA-based foundation of LiveCycle ES.

  • Start with the LiveCycle Overview, architecture section.
  • Then, check out the available services in the LiveCycle Services section. Here you'll learn about the major components of LiveCycle ES, which provide various services such as document rights management, PDF generation, process management and barcoded forms, as well as lots of utility-level services such as email, FTP, JMS, encryption, and many more.
  • Next, check out the LiveCycle Tools section to get familiar with the Eclipse-based IDE, Workbench.
  • Then, explore the LiveCycle Development section to learn how to build applications and how to extend LiveCycle ES by developing and deploying your own services. Once you're ready to get your hands dirty, download the LiveCycle ES software and start trying out the various samples that come installed with LiveCycle ES and the additional samples provided here in Tour de LiveCycle.
